About Janine DiVita:
Janine DiVita is a Broadway and screen actress and singer, concert artist, advocate, entrepreneur, director and writer who finds inspiration in storytelling, creativity, ambition, and fun.

Her Broadway credits include starring as “bad girl” Rizzo in Grease, tap dancing up a storm in Anything Goes, and belting her face off whilst wearing a 1890’s bustle in the murder-mystery comedy The Mystery of Edwin Drood. If her Broadway credits weren’t versatile enough, Janine has also toured the country in the Diane Paulus directed Finding Neverland as Mary Barrie, the fabulous society woman who happens to be in a loveless marriage, and as the oh-so-precious and dramatic broad, Elizabeth Benning, in Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein. (Elizabeth was created by icon, Madeline Kahn, in the film and then on the stage by Will & Grace‘s Meghan Mullally: "the nails, darling!").

It was during this run of Young Frankenstein that Mel Brooks himself gave Janine a shoutout in an interview;telling the interviewer that Janine DiVita “blows the roof off!” He was even so kind as to spell out Janine’s often misspelled Italian last name!

Janine has also toured the country with Frozen’s Idina Menzel in If/Then, in which Janine played the role of Ann: the sassy, bubbly half of a loving lesbian couple opposite Tony Award Winner, LaChanze. Janine also stepped into Idina Menzel’s role of Elizabeth from time to time. It was here that Janine started connecting to her fan base and saw firsthand the true impact a show can have on an audience and on lives.

Regionally, Janine has performed leading roles at Tony Award Winning theatres such as Arena Stage in Washington DC (Terri in Sophisticated Ladies starring Maurice Hines), The Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia (Nancy in Oliver! for which Janine received a Barrymore Award Nomination for Best Leading Actress in a musical), Portland Center Stage in Portland, Oregon (Young Little Edie in Grey Gardens), John Engeman Theatre, in Northport, Long Island New York (Eva Peron in Evita), The Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA (Robin in The Break.), and Theatre Raleigh (Francesca in The Bridges of Madison County).

On screen, Janine can be seen as Amy Goldman opposite Luke Kirby on Season 2 and 3 of The Deuce and as the recurring role of Jennifer in the recently released Amazon series, Gravesend. She has also had the pleasure of playing opposite Josh Lucas and Dustin Hoffman as Sally in feature film, Hear My Song, directed by The Red Violin’s Francois Gerard. Other credits include Elementary, The Americans, Evil, and the PBS special This is the Moment in which she sings opposite Celtic Thunder’s Irish Tenor, Paul Byrom.

Janine has performed for tens of thousands of people from New York City to China. From elegant symphonic orchestras to rock-star-level pyrotechnics. Intimate cabaret settings to soloing the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden. It’s clear that Janine’s career has been diverse. And throughout the span of her young but full career, Janine discovered a passion for writing, teaching, and for advocacy.

She co-founded Empowered Voices, a company that combines dynamic theatrical techniques with traditional prevention education tactics to combat and prevent Sexual Assault within the U.S. Military and beyond. They are currently expanding their unique curriculum into the digital realm so that they can reach a wider audience.

Currently, she serves as the director of the USO Show Troupe in which she manages nearly 50 professional performers out of NYC and corresponds with Military Installations all of the world to produce nearly 200 live and digital events each year that feature curated music for our servicemen and women and their families. Janine believes music is what can keep us all connected.

Janine has also co-written a dysfunctional-family-driven romantic comedy titled Sister Before Misters which is now in development with Dolphin Entertainment with Lea Thompson attached to direct. She has also co-produced and written her own solo shows Blonde Ammunition and Lit: #modernbroad. Both shows were performed to packed audiences at New York City’s premier night club, 54 Below.

Right now, she is working on an album with Broadway Records in which Nels Cline (Wilco), Frank Wildhorn, Jake Wildhorn, and Angela Sclafani are contributing original songs and arrangements.

Janine is West Virginia born, Kansas City raised, and holds a dual degree in Musical Theatre (B.F.A) and Communications Studies (B.A.) from the University of Michigan.
